AI Engineer · LLM products across Healthcare, SaaS & EdTech

I'm Shreya. I build AI that turns messy data into something people can trust.

Six years across electronics, IoT, Android, data and AI research, and three US AI startups in healthcare, SaaS and EdTech. I ship LLM features end to end: summaries, recommendations, agents, and the data pipelines underneath.

What I do

Three things I am good at

LLM systems that hold up

Evaluating and choosing models stage by stage, prompt design with domain experts, and keeping the model off the path when a cheaper step is enough.

  • evals
  • LLM-as-judge
  • agents
  • MCP

Document AI and RAG

Getting reliable structure out of PDFs, scans, images and audio, and retrieval that finds the right chunk, not just a similar one.

  • OCR
  • Textract
  • LlamaParse
  • chunking

Data you can trust

Pipelines, standard codes and validation, so that one wrong value never quietly reaches a clinician, an analyst or a customer.

AI features inside Saya

Contributed to Saya, Nephrolytics' clinical AI: smart summaries of patient history, smart recommendations, model upgrades, and the MCP pipeline behind them.

4product features I worked on
Nephrolytics AI2025–now

Lab names to standard codes, at scale

A Go service mapping free-text lab names from EMR feeds and scans to 59K+ LOINC codes. A cache and skip patterns keep most records off the LLM path.

98%accuracy over 4M+ observations
Nephrolytics AI2025–now

Benchmarking four LLMs, stage by stage

Compared models for document classification and summarization to replace a single model, giving each pipeline stage its best performer.

−20%cost, and +8% accuracy
Nephrolytics AI2025–now

Catching impossible values before they matter

Audited every unit and reference range to set per-code bounds, so an impossible OCR value goes to clinician review instead of into a risk score.

SQOR.ai2024–26

Ask your data in plain English

LLM agents with LangGraph, Gemini and BigQuery that let analysts query several data sources in natural language, replacing hand-written SQL for routine analysis.

10+external APIs in the pipelines behind it
SQOR.ai2024–26

Better chunks, better answers

Semantic chunking for RAG over financial reports: sentence embeddings, similarity clustering and token-aware sizing instead of fixed-length splits.

+40%chunk quality vs. recursive splitting

Notes from documents and lectures

Led a team of 8 developers to ship a notes-generation platform for documents and audio (Whisper, OpenAI), with prompts tailored to students, teachers and admins.

8developers led, +15% answer relevance

Teaching AI to the next generation

Taught a 40-hour AI/ML curriculum, from CNNs and GANs to LSTMs, to more than 100 students over a summer.

95%student satisfaction

Sentiment models on support data

NLP sentiment models, SQL pipelines and Tableau dashboards over 250K+ customer support interactions.

18%faster support responses

A traffic signal that catches violators

A camera reads the number plate and an RFID line detects a red-light crossing, so the fine is issued instantly. The idea came from standing at a signal in India.

Earlier & side projects

Face-recognition entry for sports events

Fans register once; at the gate their face is matched to their ticket, so entry takes seconds instead of a queue.

computer vision · Python · code coming to GitHub
Patient health assistant

A chatbot that answers routine health questions from a patient's records, so a quick question doesn't need another appointment.

chatbot · healthcare · built on demo data
Breast cancer survival analysis

Survival modelling and statistical analysis to understand which factors shape patient outcomes.

ML · statistics
Enterprise data pipeline optimization

AWS data pipelines and dashboards, reworked for faster and cheaper reporting.

The problem I solve, in one box

Medical records arrive as scans, faxes and free text, and every lab writes the same test differently. My job is turning that into clean, coded data a doctor can rely on, and flagging what doesn't add up.

Type a test name the way a report might, and watch it resolve. It runs entirely in your browser.

How it decides
Standard code (LOINC)
Cheap exact lookup first, then fuzzy matching, and only the genuinely ambiguous cases go to a language model or a person. When nothing is close, it declines rather than guesses. This demo uses 20 public LOINC codes; the production service I built maps to more than 59,000.
My story

From Indore to AI, one build at a time

I have always liked building things. The tools changed: syringes and magnets, then circuits and sensors, then code, then models.

Indore–2020 Pune2021–22 Boston2022–24 New York2024–26 Portland, ORnow
1

Indore: the builder years

school → B.Tech, 2020
  • Science fairs every year: a hydraulic bridge driven by syringes, a magnetic levitation train.
  • Grew up watching my brother build robots and boats.
  • B.Tech, Electronics & Communication, Medicaps University. Took a line-follower robot to IIT Bombay's Techfest.
  • Internships in embedded systems and IoT, and my first IEEE paper in final year.
2

Pune: first production code

Cognizant, 2021–22
  • Programmer Analyst: Android development, NLP sentiment models, SQL pipelines and dashboards.
  • 250K+ real support conversations taught me what real users need.
  • Won a full state-government scholarship and became the first woman in my family to study abroad.
3

Boston: the turn to AI

Boston University, 2022–24
  • MS, Computer Information Systems at a QS top-100 university (#94, 2027). I came planning to be a product manager.
  • Largely self-taught in AI. Foundational courses hadn't clicked; ChatGPT did. I learned from papers, courses and building until things worked.
  • IT consultant at BU, then taught AI/ML to 100+ students at iD Tech's MIT campus.
4

New York: shipping AI

Reality AI & SQOR.ai, 2024–26
  • First AI role in EdTech at Reality AI: led 8 developers on a notes-generation platform.
  • In SaaS at SQOR.ai: LLM agents for analytics and RAG over financial reports.
5

Now: AI for kidney care

Nephrolytics AI, 2025–
  • AI Engineer, Clinical Data, working remotely from Portland, OR.
  • Contributing to Saya, the company's clinical AI assistant.
  • Production LLM systems where being right matters: lab codes, document AI, model evaluation.
  • Writing up this work as research, and mentoring people on the same path.

“I am good at the unglamorous middle of a system: the part where data is wrong in ways nobody documented, and being careful matters more than being clever.”
